Here’s your go-to guide to necklace sizing, how to measure, how each length looks, and how to choose the one that complements you best.

Necklace Lengths & What They’re Called

Collar & Choker (30–40cm | 12–16”)

These sit high and snug , collar necklaces wrap closely around the neck, while chokers rest just at the base. They’re flattering on long necks, short hair, or styled updos. Make sure there's just a finger-width of room for comfort. We love these for that timeless 90s comeback moment.

Princess Length (40–47cm | 16–18”)

The classic necklace length. It sits just below the collarbone, pairing beautifully with open necklines and dainty pendants. For petite frames, this is the sweet spot. On fuller bodies, this length may wear more like a choker , so always measure before buying.

Matinee (47–60cm | 18–24”)

This length falls elegantly between the collarbone and bust. It’s ideal for statement pieces or layering with shorter chains. Perfect for mid-height or curvier body types, the matinee style gives a graceful drape.

Opera (60–75cm | 24–30”)

Rope (85–100cm | 33–40”)

How to Measure Your Necklace Size

Option 1: Measure a Necklace You Already Love

• Lay your necklace flat on a table

• Measure from clasp end to clasp end in centimeters or inches

• That’s your chain length!

Option 2: Use a Measuring Tape or String

• Wrap a soft measuring tape or a ribbon around your neck where you’d like the necklace to fall

• If it’s for a pendant, account for extra drop length

• Note the total and compare it to our size chart

💡 Tip: Always measure when you’re upright and relaxed , and account for how pendants, clothing, or body shape can shift where the chain rests.

What’s the Average Necklace Length?

• For women: 40–45cm (16–18”) is the classic standard

• For men: 55–63cm (20–25”) is more common
